I recently got an email which asked a few questions about ordering Medifast food. The writer wanted to know things like whether you can use Medifast coupons for the individual foods or packages. She also asked: "if you don't have a coupon, is the order is going to go through and work anyway?" I will answer these questions in the following article.
The Medifast Coupon Codes Are Optional To Use, But You'll Save Money If You Use Them With Packages: To quickly answer the question about the individual foods, I've very rarely seen the discounts be applicable with the individual or a la carte items. Usually, you see these larger savings offered on the packages. People often don't believe me when I say that it's cheaper to buy this way, but if you figure out the cost per item of an a la carte item versus a package, then you'll see that the price comparisons aren't even close.
Granted, I understand that some people want to try the foods before they place a large order, but in order to see decent results and have an idea of what life on this diet is like, you'll usually need enough food for a week or two at the minimum. So I would certainly advocate going for the smaller two week package rather than trying to buy enough individual foods for two weeks.
To use a coupon, you'll need to enter the applicable code into your order form before you finish out the transaction. There is a little box right on top of your total. You enter the code in this box (cutting and pasting it from somewhere else works) and then click the button on the right side that says "apply coupon code."
You need to complete both of these steps before any money will come off or any free food will be added. (Sometimes the discount is money off of your total and other times, it's a significant amount of free food.) You can do this without being a member or having an account (which is free) but ultimately in order to complete the transaction and have your food shipped, you'll need to set up an account.
To answer the question of whether the order will go through without entering the code, the answer is that it will. I've forgotten to enter the information before and my order went through without a hitch. But of course, I then had to pay full price and since I wasn't paying all that much attention, I did not know this until later. Keep in mind that the company generally changes the code monthly. While you'll want to make sure that you have the correct current string of letters or phrases, it's generally pretty easy to get a hold of the latest versions of discounts. There are third party websites and blogs that offer these.
