Small Business Accountant/CPA - Does YOURS Care?

. The next question - do you feel your accountant really feels about your business needs and not justthe numbers? Are they willing to go a little bit farther than just putting together your numbers for you?
I think what you really should be looking for is someone on your side, someone who takes a vested interest in your success, shows concern when you're having
trouble, really works their brain and tries to help you solve problems.
-Do they contact you frequently?
-Are they interested in your issues?
-Do they specialize in business?
-An accountant or CPA that will do pretty much anything and is a jack of all trades, are they really committed to you as a business owner?
-Do they really want to see you succeed?
-Do they give you additional information, send you newsletters, articles, emails with success tips?
-Do they invest the time to give you great information about how to succeed in what's important to you right now?
-Are they keeping you abreast of current developments?
-Are they feeding you information about banks that may loan you money or ways to manage your personal financial situation?
Some keys are:
-Are you always on extension? This is not a good sign. If they're always too busy to get your returns done or too busy to focus on you, you're
obviously not being taken care of.
-Do they not return your phone call?
-And frankly, when you have an issue, is treated with indifference?
I think these are keys that you can focus on to know whether or not you have somebody on your side. And I think the IACPA, their survey really tells the true
story. The number one problem - what do small business owners feel they really need from an accountant? 70% want customer service and attentiveness. That's
really the main issue.
That's simple and my question is, how simple is that? It's simple. It's common courtesy, and it's something that we believe we do here at the Financial
Performance Center.
