Lexus Ct200h - Review
CT 200h is the first car which will be launched as an entirely hybrid model
. The production of this car will start in late 2010 and will be available in market for sale. This full hybrid model will surely attract people of all ages and especially young customers. This car is designed for Europe and is already gaining the attention of people because of 5 doors compatibility and hybrid technology with low emissions. Lexus manufacturers are very much concerned about green and clean environment as they always try to make hybrid cars which are environment friendly. In addition Lexus CT 200h provides the comfort and driving pleasure for which Lexus is famous for.
Lexus CT 200h has many similarities in visuals with LF-Ch concept Lexus which was launched at Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009. The beautiful design of Lexus CT 200h follows the Lexus's L-finesse design philosophy, but the sharp edged appearance of CT 200h makes it different from its other rivals.
According to Lexus, the CT200h was custom designed, keeping in mind the European market. This statement is backed up by the five-door layout of CT200h. There are four driver-selectable driving modes, available in the CT200h: Normal, Eco, EV, and Sport.
The driving position in the CT200h is low, and the seat is very comfortable, and supportive. The driving console is divided into two zones. The upper zone has an 8-inch LCD display, and the lower zone is the operations zone. In sports mode, the hybrid indicator changes to a tachometer and the backlights turn red from blue. This changes the atmosphere inside the car. The controls also become more responsive.
The powerful drive of Lexus CT 200h is attained by 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine and a heavy electric motor. Multi drive modes, which have four modes, give the driver a great hold on the car. For comfort and efficiency there are NORMAL and ECO modes, whereas for a sporty spirit, Lexus CT 200h has the SPORT mode which provides an ultimate racing experience. The fourth mode is unique, as other hybrid system manufacturers do not use it. This fourth mode is called EV which is Electric Vehicle mode in which car can run at the speed of 28mph and up to 1.2 miles with ultra-quietness. This mode involves zero consumption of fuel.
The CT200h has been built on a new platform, and has a double wishbone, and trailing arm rear suspension system. This is expected to make the ride more comfortable, and the CT200h should handle well on all road surfaces.
Extraordinary elements like coil springs, shock absorbers and front anti-roll bar in the MacPherson strut design gives an improved roll firmness and very comfortable ride to the passengers and driver.
Lexus has excluded the rear wishbone suspension in the CT 200h and put a lightweight trailing arm.
