How To Skyrocket Your Chances Of Getting That Job

If you are looking for a job, then you are not alone

. More people than ever are in your shoes, and have been for a long time. The current recession we are in is the longest one since World War II. And nobody really knows how long it will take to recover. The unemployment is considered to be in double digits, and some politicians are talking about having a permanent unemployment rate of between five and ten percent.

Those are some terrifying numbers. That means at any given time, ten percent of the population will be out looking for some kind of job. That means stiff competition for people like you who want to find a good job as soon as possible, so they can start saving money for a better future.

Since the job market is largely competitive, you are trying to make yourself look better than everybody else who is applying for that same job. When you realize what you are up against, this really isn't all that difficult.

The first thing you'll need to do is dress more professionally than most people. Wear a suit and look sharp. Wear some nice shoes. Be clean shaven if you are a man, and don't wear too much makeup if you are a woman.

Do some research on the company you are interviewing for. Ask some intelligent questions while you are in there. Find out what the company is planning in the next five to ten years. Ask what happened to the person who's job you are filling. Did they quit, get promoted, or is this a new position?

Send a nice thank you letter soon after your interview. This is rarely done by people today. Don't send it by email, rather use the post office. Send it directly to the interviewer. Thank them for taking the time, and restate why you think you're the best person for the job.

And last but not least, never give up. Send out as many resumes as you possibly can. Go on every interview you can, even if it's a job that you may not be interested. This will give you plenty of practice, and help you to become much more confident. That will come across in the interviews that really matter.

When you put these simple tips together, you will certainly put yourself in the top 5 or even 1 percent of all job applicants. And when you keep at it, you'll get a great job sooner than you think.
