Going By Eurostar To Paris? Shipping Luggage To France Makes It A First Class Experience

With the completion of the high-speed rail route from London to the Channel Tunnel

, travelling by Eurostar is now an even more viable option for anyone who either doesnt like flying, or who needs to get there in a hurry.

But as it is designed for speed, a Eurostar train is not the best means of transporting large amounts of luggage. Unidirectional seating in standard class with only shallow overhead luggage racks mean that space for storing items for the journey is at a premium, and the early arrivers tend to snap up all the available room.

For safety reasons, luggage also cannot be allowed to block the aisles of the carriages, and as with a plane, there is also severely restricted space underneath the seats.

So what can be done when wanting to transport more than a few changes of clothing, for example when going away on honeymoon? After all, trying to squash cases into a narrow luggage rack is hardly the most romantic start to any journey to Paris. And those wardrobe items which are intended for a special evening could just be rendered unwearable by being squashed into a confined space.

The answer, therefore, is to use a service dedicated to shipping luggage to France to arrange for these items to be sent separately.

A handy drop-off point at St Pancras International station, the central London terminus of all Eurostar services, can receive luggage destined for Paris, and long daily opening hours mean the service can be accessed even on early-morning and late-evening departures.

Travelling on a Eurostar train at 300 kilometres per hour (186 miles per hour) is one of the most exciting experiences on rails. There are restaurants, bars and shops on board the trains to help the swift journey to Paris go even more quickly. But with the trains themselves a quarter of a mile long, no one wants to have to trundle luggage to and from the buffet or restaurant with them.

Knowing that all but essential items for the journey are being whisked to the Gare du Nord and will be waiting for collection at a convenient time on arrival means that the exhilaration of the journey can be fully appreciated, and the whole experience be treated as part of a complete Paris getaway.
