It's Christmas time and everyone is busy preparing for gifts for love ones. Cakes can be good gifts for this season. It can be unique gift and has labor of love.

Before baking the cake it is important to decide what will be the flavor of the cake. Chocolate and mocha flavor are the most common flavors. After deciding on the flavor of the cake, it is now time to prepare for the ingredients.

Here are the common ingredients of a cake:

buttermilk

salt

softened butter

sugar

unsweetened chocolate

vanilla extract / vanilla flavor

water

The amount of the ingredients varies based on the size of cake being prepared. When the mixture is ready, it is time to prepare for the saucepan, oven and the prescribed time for baking the cake. It is necessary to pre-heat the over to about 350F before baking the cake for about 30-35 minutes.

When the cake is already baked, the next time to do is to decorate the cake. Make sure that cake cool off completely before adding the decorations.
