Carolina Lake Properties: Find The Finest In South Carolina by:Robert Bencivenga
Share: South Carolina has numerous lovely and affordable lake communities for any income or lifestyle
, be it for retirees or resettlement.
Lake Thurmond has a size of 70,000 acres and is one of the biggest water bodies in South Carolina. Sitting between 2 sections of the lake just beyond McCormick, enclosed by 600,000 acres of Sumter National Forest, encompassing four thousand acres is the Savannah Lakes Village community. The 4,300 real estate owners can benefit from a bowling alley, eighty diverse clubs, a huge activities center, shuffleboard, mini-golf course, bocce ball courts, 2 eighteen-hole golf courses with practice facilities and matches, a grill/deli, four tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, and two clubhouses with restaurants. So appreciated are vacationers that there is an 80 room lodge at the marina and two bedroom townhouses to rent. This is definitely one of the most excellent locations when hunting for a Carolina retirement community!
Northeast of Savannah Lakes Village is the city of Greenwood, South Carolina. Around twelve miles east of Greenwood is the 11,000 acre Lake Greenwood. The Plantation at Grand Harbor is 60 miles away from Greenville-Spartanburg airport, and approximately 70 miles to Columbia. The centerpiece of the community is "The Patriot," a full golf course themed on the American Revolution and designed by Davis Love III. You have a Marina, a yacht and golf clubhouse both with dining, a 50 acre equestrian center, nature reserve, swimming pools, spas and a beach on Lake Greenwood, and a full gymnasium.
A different community on Lake Greenwood is the 40 acre New Urbanism community of Palmetto Crossing. Residing in this Carolina retirement community presents you access on foot to the Towne Center with a book library; specialty retails shops, galleries and cafeterias. But the most significant feature happens to be The Palmetto Club, with its bar, hearth, rooftop club, billiards, concierge, and screening theater for movies. There is a gymnasium, swimming pool and an eighty-four slip marina. Palmetto Crossing provides reasonably priced single family homes, town homes, and condo living much like the comforts of a gated community.
Share: Located on the 50,000 acres of Lake Murray, Harbor Watch is just west of Columbia, South Carolina. This reasonably priced Carolina retirement community is merely one hundred thirty acres, with two hundred and seventy houses proposed for construction. Starting at about $50K for a quarter acre, each and every home site is given a deeded deep-water boat slip. Homeowner's fees are kept affordable, since the builders did not lavish money on the facilities. They have a chipping and putting green, clubhouse with a kitchen for residents, 2 tennis courts, a fitness room and a pool with a view of the lake. Inhabitants of this community are attracted to it for one reason, the magnificent lake.
Towards the northwestern part of the state high among the mountains is eighteen thousand acre Lake Keowee. On the lake shoreline approximately an hour from Greenville, two hours from Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina is Keowee Key. This Carolina retirement community provides town homes, condos and single family homes, together with plain land beginning at around one hundred and twenty thousand dollars. People living there get pleasure from an eighteen-hole course envisaged by George Cobb; six tennis courts, an indoor racquet ball court, fitness center, swimming pool, common garden, trails, harbor and a number of clubs. The community is in one of the most beautiful areas of the state.
