Kaziranga National Park
Located in the heart of Assam on the bank of the Brahmaputra River, lies the
Kaziranga National Park. Covering an area of 430-sq-kms, this national park consists of dense forests and craggy reeds. Elephant grass grows up to a few meters making it an idyllic grazing ground for the renowned One Horned Rhinoceros. These One Horned Rhinos are internationally known as Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros, thus forming the main attraction for the park. The other attractions include wild buffaloes, barasingha, herd of elephants moving around, grey headed fishing eagle. The water-birds include swamp partridge, bar-headed goose, whistling teal, the Bengal florican, storks, herons and even pelicans. The best time to see the park is from November to March. The park remains closed from April to mid October.

Manas National Park. Covering an area of 520 sq km, this park is most famous for its tiger population. It is the only wildlife park in Assam that comes under Project Tiger. Apart from tigers, one horned rhino, Wild boar, Hog Deer are found here. Pigmy Hog, Assam Roofed turtle, Hispid Hare are few animals that are found only in Manas National Park. Among other frequently seen birds are Fowls, bulbuls, Brahminy Ducks and Gray hornbills. The park lies in the vicinity of Guwahati. The best of the safaris are available here. One can enjoy an
Elephant Safari or a Boat Safari in the Manas River. These safaris are of 3 hours duration. Even a Jeep Safari can be enjoyed as the roads are well laid. This national park is a must visit if interested in nature and wild creations. Many a visitors are attracted to this National Park for its immense beauty and rare species.
Nameri National Park
Nameri National Park covers an area of 200sq. kms and is located at the foothills of eastern Himalayas. The park is the second Tiger reserve of Assam. This national park is a refuge for many rare animals like Tiger, Black bear, elephant, Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Indian Bison, Pangolin, Indian wild dog, deer, Civet Cat, Capped Langur and Jackals etc. Various species of birds such as the endangered white winged wood duck, four species of Hornbill, butterflies and reptiles are also found here. Nameri is also famous for Golden Masheer, which has made the place a paradise for the wildlife lovers.

Dibru - Saikhowa is the largest national park of Assam and is spread over an area of 650 sq. km. It mainly consists of semi wet evergreen forests, clammy deciduous forest, bamboo, cane brakes and grasslands. Situated in the plains of Brahmaputra, at an altitude of 118 m above sea level, Dibru-Saikhowa is a safe asylum for many rare and scarce species of wild life. It also consists of various species of shrubs, herbs and rare medicinal plants. It is also famous for its bright coloured wild horses known as Feral Horses. Some rare and scarce animals of this sanctuary are Hoolock gibbon, langur, water buffalo, tiger, elephant, river dolphin etc. Bird life consists of Spot billed pelican, White bellied heron, fishing eagle, Pale capped pigeon, Swamp francolin etc. and migratory birds like Geyleg goose, Brahmini duck, Bar-headed goose, pelican, Black stork etc.
