What is the Mad Gringo? Well, as you will soon find out, it is several things it's a person, a company, and a state of mind.
We recently caught up with our friend, the Mad Gringo, between tiki bar stops and had a great visit! The following is helpful information related to his big & tall beachwear product line, for those who may be interested in those products (as well as some interesting information about the origin of the company).
When he reflects about the origins of the Mad Gringo (the person, the company, and the state of mind) you can see he has a passion for helping individuals to find a certain freedom and peace within, as well as expressing that state of mind through the clothing they wear.
Back in 2006, the founder of Mad Gringo had been toying around with making an escape from his banking career. He gave it a trial run and hit the beach in Mexico to "find himself".
On the second day, he met a man named Ricardo who was shucking and selling oysters. After several conversations about how miserable he was and how he wanted to walk away from it all and set up shop next to him and sell ANYTHING Ricardo told him that he was "Loco, gringo!".
He eventually found out Ricardo was from Wisconsin and was living our friend's own dream; stress-free and tanned by something other than florescent lights!
Our friend, a.k.a, the Mad Gringo, promised himself that he was going to walk away, start his own business, and start living life differently - and that is exactly what he did. He found his Mad Gringo that something inside that's a little crazy anda little angry now, he tries to help others do the same.
When discussing where his Mad Gringo product line of big & tall men's beachwear is manufactured, our friend's enthusiasm for his clothing is addictive. Currently, most of his products (men's big & tall tropical shirts, for example) come from Bali a good friend of his makes them (the buttons are made from coconut shells). The variety of big & tall t-shirts (cool surfer designs), are made in Central America.
What sets the Mad Gringo products apart from the rest is that each style has its own story and lets the wearer tell their own story about their own inner Mad Gringo. You find a style you like, reflect, and then find your own inner Mad Gringo!
