How Can I Learn to Speak French?
One of the trickiest things about the French language is the pronunciation. In many cases, it seems only marginally related to the way French is written, especially to an English speaker. It's oftentimes much easier to start with listening to the language. French is a Latin language and was very influential on the development of English. In fact, French was used for formal and official business in the British Isles before early English was adopted. Even though this is the case, French is a difficult language for most native English speakers.
When we're children, we learn to speak languages by imitating the sound our parents and the other people around us make. A classic, though sometimes uncomfortable, example is when children pick up profanity inadvertently from parents or others. They say it over and over simply because the best way to learn a language is to hear it and then try speaking that same word yourself, even if you have no idea what that word actually means or how it's spelled. If you want to learn the French language, this same method works splendidly for adults as well as children.

Share: Learning how to speak French through music is a great way to get started. Music helps to cement the words in your vocabulary and, of course, you learn how to pronounce the words correctly before you try speaking them because you can hear them in your mind. Many people can sing a few lines from an opera or a foreign-language folk song. Compare that to how many people remember anything substantial from their high school French, Spanish or any other language classes and you have an idea why learning through music is much more effective. Because it is enjoyable, it also has the benefit of not feeling like work at all.
Songs are infectious. Most of us have had a song stuck in our heads at one time or another. Even when an individual doesn't' know the lyrics to that song, they can oftentimes reconstruct them by concentrating on the melody. Melody gives words context beyond their literal meaning, which helps with memorization. Learning French is much easier when it's done with music and you can learn French online in this way. While you may not know the meaning of the words you're hearing, they'll become permanent in your memory, with less trouble involved in pronunciation.
