When we were young we all dreamed about growing up, having a nice home, a new automobile every couple of years and a nice family of four. This was preached as the American dream for many of us and many of those dreams came true. Many of those dreams never happened and many of those dreams matured totally the opposite of what we thought would be our lot in life.
Most of us dreamed of owning our own business and some of us accomplished that goal while others went to work for some company and punched the time clock everyday for 20 plus years and retired on what they thought would be a nice retirement income.
When we were younger and working, saving and setting investment money aside for our retirement, who would have guessed that the cost of living would rise to a point where our saving wasn't enough to sustain our lifestyle even though the kid were old enough to have moved on with their life and left just the two of us and the dog at home alone.
With inflation at an all time high, interest on your money at an all time low, gas at $3.50 per gallon and going up every day where do you turn and what do you do to offset these extra expenses? Many senior citizens as well as the baby boomers are finding that the hard work and saving money for a decent retirement just wasn't enough.
It's a tragedy in the most advanced culture of all times that such a tragic situation has evolved into a problem of this magnitude. The patriotic men and women who built this country of what it is today did so with blood, sweat and tears and are being discriminated against now by their own government. Some even died to maintain our freedom. This whole group of individuals should be looked up to as heroes instead of being treated like an unimportant second class segment of our society.
Our government has put a two year freeze on the Social Security benefits, yet the politicians gave themselves a nice fat raise immediately after they made that decision. It's not fair to us who have worked all our lives, obeyed the rules, paid our taxes and saved for our retirement, for our government to treat us as scumbags yet provides untold benefits to those who are in our country illegally.
It's a matter of survival for many decent hard working people to go back to work to supplement their income so they can pay for the high cost of prescription drugs, pay their part of medical expenses that is not covered by their medical program, pay their property taxes or buy groceries or don't have enough money left over at the end of the month to take their wife out to a nice dinner.
It's not fair to have "too much month left over at the end of the money" instead of the other way around because of the bad decisions of those we elected to public office who should be concerned about our rights and protect our interest. The greed of the politicians is killing our country little by little until one day we will no longer be a free society.
The facts are evident by the number of people who have been forced to take (a minimum wage, no benefits, part time) job at Wal-Mart to try to make up for the deficiencies in their money situation.
Now there's hope for your dilemma. With the advent of the internet, there are opportunities now that any age, color or creed can take advantage of to help supplement their income. You too can start your own online business without spending a large part of what you may have left of your savings.
