A potting shed is a gardener's paradise. So, if you are a passionate gardener, this is the place you would expect to spend most of your time. Naturally, you would also like this place as perfect as possible for carrying out your favorite pastime. Therefore, an ideal shed should be one that is not very big but at the same time adequate enough to become your comfort zone. It must accommodate your seed trays, fertilizer bags, pots and all your gardening tools with ease. Also, it would not be a bad idea at all to make room for a cabinet. You should keep things like fertilizer in it with arrangements for locking it. This would make it safe for your pets and children.You should not crouch or bend for space within your shed. Otherwise, it would become impossible for you to work for a long stretch. The shed must be spacious enough to make place for a work bench. It should even make room for a chair for you to relax. And a small shelf for your gardening manuals would just be the icing on the cake. All these little things would provide the right environment and mood for a good day's work.
Your ideal shed would remain incomplete without a wide door. This door should be wide enough to allow large items like wheelbarrows. The door should permit a smooth entry and exit while you are carrying your equipments, bags and sacks. Also, do ensure to have large windows for proper ventilation and sufficient natural light. However, if you are planning to work even in the nights then make arrangements for electricity.
An ideal gardening shed should be made out of wood so that it can provide the natural warmth for preserving the seedlings and fertilizers during winter. A wooden shed would also take care of the eco-friendly aspect. However, while going for your dream potting shed, you should not forget that the primary purpose of having a shed is its ability to store things. So, consider all these aspects carefully and also consider whether they would be accommodated easily without making your shed cluttered. Remember you may also need to store bulky stuff like a hose for watering the plants and for washing your equipments. You may add a few more things in future as you develop your garden further.
And last but not the least, besides the utility aspect, your ideal shed must also have an aesthetic look.
