A Review of the GBC Titan 1264 Wide-Format Laminator
When it comes to making laminators, GBC excels at it
, even with their wide-format devices. One such machine is the Titan 1264, a laminator that's great for large jobs. Check out this product's strengths and weaknesses to find out if it's right for you.
Strengths:
The first thing you need to know about the 1264 is that it's capable of handling very large items. This device can process work that's up to 61 inches wide, making it one of the largest roll laminators available. Since it's so big you'll be able to finish all your large projects such as maps, posters, and so on.
The 1264 has both hot and cold settings so you'll be able to use thermal and pressure-sensitive film with it. (Keep in mind that the thermal film can be up to 61" wide while the pressure-sensitive stuff can be 63" across.) Since this machine can do cold lamination, you can laminate just about anything, including items that have been printed with water-based inks. You can also use mounting boards as long as they're no more than 0.5" thick.
All of your documents will look great once they've been laminated because this device has silicone rollers. Also, there are adjustable temperature and speed settings so it's easy to select the right setting depending on the film you're using. If there are particular settings that you use repeatedly, you can program up to 9 of them into the machine's memory.
Although the 1264 is large, it's actually pretty easy to use. There's an LCD screen that you use when selecting your settings so you can see what's going on.
The 1264 can process a 10-foot-long document in just one minute when it's on the highest speed setting. This is great because it will enable you to get things done quickly.
Finally, this laminator comes with a year-long warranty on parts while labor is covered for 90 days.
Weaknesses:
The 1264 is very large so it's not the best choice if your work area is tiny. This device measures 79" (width) x 50" (height) x 25" (depth) so you'll need at least 7 feet of wall space for it. Also, this laminator weighs over 300 pounds so it will be difficult to move it out of the way.
The rolls of film you use with this device need to have a 3" core. That limits the types of film you can use. Also, GBC Arctic and Octiva films are recommended for use with this product.
As you can see, the GBC Titan 1264 has many more strengths than weaknesses and as such, it would be a terrific choice if you need a wide-format laminator. This device can handle all of your large documents and it will laminate them quickly. You'll find this machine is easy to use even though it's incredibly large. Although this device can only handle films with 3-inch cores, the 1264 is the laminator to get, so take a look at it today.
