Which Fuel Is Your Best Bet?

Which Fuel Is Your Best Bet?

When renting a vehicle you will most likely be supplied with a full tank of fuel

, however with some larger rental agencies like Budget and Enterprise you may find that there are additional fueling options available to you. Depending on the location you may be able to choose from one of three fuel options and they are as follows:

1. You may be able to pay in advance for fuel and then return the vehicle on empty. At that point the car rental agency will usually offer you a lower cost on your fuel than you will find at the local pumps. If you plan it right than this option could save you money, however, if you don't use all the fuel than you won't be reimbursed for the unused fuel left in your tank. This is an important factor to keep in mind when choosing this option.

2. If you are unsure as to how far your travels will take you or how much fuel you will be expending during your trip, than it is probably best to take the car full and fill it up when returning it to avoid any extra fees that the car rental company might charge you for refueling your vehicle.

3. When your travel will be local and short lived, option 3 may be the best option for you. With this option you will pay only for the fuel that you actually use out of the vehicle and is an excellent option for those who are just using the vehicle around town for a day or so, especially if you won't have time to refuel on your way to return the vehicle. You should be able to find out in advance how much the per liter or per gallon refueling charge will be in advance by contacting the location directly.

Keep in mind that all rental agencies in all locations do not offer these same refueling options so it is important to find out in advance the refueling policy at the specific location that you will be renting from, to find out if these options are available to you. When in doubt, always choose to refill the tank, this is the safest way to go.
