Which Cosmetic Dental Option Is Right For You?
Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding
Bonding is used as a relatively simple method of disguising small defects such
as chipped or crooked teeth or gaps between teeth.
Bonding is used as a relatively
simple method of disguising small defects such aschippedorcrookedteethorgaps
between teeth.
So if you feel that your smile is
not as great as you would like and you don't want to have more complex
treatments such asveneersthen
dental bonding may be right for you.
The way we do this in our local St
Johns Woodpractice is bypreparing your teeth with a special solution, this
solution allows a very strong bond to be formed with your natural tooth.
Once this has been done we use
aspecial 'composite resin' material - very similar to those used for white
fillings - to your teeth. We shape the tooth bonding resin to give a natural
appearance and bond it into place with a high intensity blue light, leaving you
with a new improved smile.
Because the tooth bonding procedure
involves very little preparation, it does not usually need a local anaesthetic.
It is also a very efficient procedure in terms of time and often only involves
one appointment at our North London Practice where patient frequently travel to
see us from around the central london and Hampstead area.
Dental Veneers
Veneers offer a great way of transforming your smile with just one treatment.
We often find that treatment with
Dental Veneers from our North London Dental Practice is a life changing
experience. Many patients with dark or broken down teeth regain their self
esteem and feel confident again knowing they have a healthy smile that looks
stunning.
Could your smile be
improved with dental veneers?
Dental Veneers offer a great way of
transforming your smile with just one treatment. They are very thin porcelain
veneers which are specially adhered to the front of your teeth. Because they
cover the whole front surface, they can hide many imperfections, from
discoloured,chipped or
cracked teeththrough tocrooked
ones.
How does the Dental Veneers process work?
1. Achieving the smile of your
dreams, involves a precise step "diagnostic" process, which allows you to see
what your teeth will be like after any treatment. Once we have looked at your
new smile together and you are happy with the proposedresult we will proceed to
the next step.
2. Highly accurate impressions are
taken of your teeth and a full range of photographs recorded. Other detailed
measurements are recorded of your "bite" and the muscles and joints are examined
thoroughly.
In the technician"s laboratory,
models are made and placed on a three dimensional "bite simulator". We can then
predictably plan and design your new smile and demonstrate on exact replica of
your teeth (models) the final "new smile", before commencing treatment. This
ensures good functionality of your teeth, so that they work effectively and
comfortably for you as well as looking good.
3. Once completed, the dental
veneers are bonded into place, becoming virtually part of your own teeth and
giving you a beautiful, natural-looking smile.
An example of Dental Veneers
Chris was unhappy with the
angulation and irregular colour of his teeth, the teeth had unusual white and
darker yellow bands which we wanted to remove. In this case orthodontics alone
would not have worked as the teeth would still have these coloured bands, so we
decided that dental veneers were the best option.
This is how he looked before his
treatment

the teeth are now even in both colour and shape.

discoloured teeth then please do get in touch - it may be that we can whiten
your teeth or use porcelain veneers as in this example.
Porcelain Veneers - Another example
This example show how our teeth age
over time. As we get older our teeth get shorter as they wear, often ending up
the same length as each other. Naturally your teeth are not all the same length,
and restoring teeth to have a slight difference in the length makes the teeth
and smile look much younger again.
Share:Believe it or
not, this is the same patient 2 after having porcelain veneers fitted.
Share:The same
patient, this time smiling!
Share:Just to prove
this is the same person, that's the same little beard isn't it?
Share:If your teeth have worn down and
are starting to look old then please do get in touch - it may be that we can
whiten your teeth or use porcelain veneers as in this example.

How does Teeth Whitening Work?
Teeth whitening is the dental
technique of applying a whiteningagent to the surface of a tooth - this can be
in the form of a 'professional whitening gel'which is activatedby arapid
whitening system (Zoom! Advanced Power"") using a powerful light.
Sometimes the tooth bleach is held
against the tooth in the form of a sticky coating (Smile Strips) and it may even
be held in suspension in a whitening mouth wash
- for all of these teeth whitening options we use either carbamide peroxide or
hydrogen peroxide in low concentrations.
In each case your teeth are gently
whitened and dark stains removed as the bleach reacts with the tooth surface to
create tiny oxygen bubbles, this then gently removes the tooth stains and the
bleaching gel or mouthwash thenwhitens your teeth over a period of a few days
or hours if the light is used with Zoom! Advanced Power"" whitening.
Having whiter teeth increases
confidence. This is a known fact.
After your teeth have been whitened
there is a natural tendency for the teeth to slowly darken again, this is normal
and to be expected - however it is unlikley that they will ever return to their
original shade.
Teeth whitening should always be
viewed as a treatment that needs top ups over a peroiod of time.
