, more stress was laid to make it comfortable. This became a necessity because a normal employee spent hours hunched over the office table immersed in their work. Increasing work load and the demands of the modern industry meant that there was no respite to speak off. This led to back strains and other health related problems. Noticing this trend the furniture industry called in the experts; especially those who specialized in the science called ergonomics; which deals with the science of standardizing the design of furniture according to sitting posture, height and so on.

The utility of this science is more relevant in the normal office setting because a normal employee spent an average of eight to ten hours daily over the office table. Studies have revealed that ergonomically designed office tables have gone a long way in increasing the productivity and efficiency of the employee. This is because proper design of the office table means that there are no aching wrists and backs. Moreover, it reduces instances of chronic back problems and even cases of Spondilitis.

The next issue while choosing office table is the work environment. The choice of the office table varies according to the nature of work. For example, a hotel environment would require different types of office tables and this would be entirely different from the requirements of a hospital environment.

A hotel- depending upon its clientele- can do with flashy colours and expensive material; however, this would be totally out of setting in a hospital environment; which requires green furniture that can be easily cleaned and poses little danger to the patients. Therefore, it is advisable that in such settings one should choose office tables that are made from environmentally friendly material. Moreover, it should be ergonomically designed to prevent injuries.

The importance of office tables should not be underestimated in the modern working environment which is characterised by long working hours, irregular shifts and hazardous working conditions. Office tables is the battle ground in which many wars are won and therefore it becomes necessary to make adequate preparations in order smoothen work flow. Ergonomically designed office tables provide an aesthetic appeal to the workplace and at the same time makes work pleasurable.

Over the years Executive office tables have evolved in their design and the material used for their construction has improved tremendously. This is because the modern working environment is more inclined towards the fulfillment of environmental and statutory obligations rather than old traditions and norms. Due to this, more stress is laid on utility rather than design.

Executive table have witnessed this paradigm shift in design and material over the years; with fibre glass replacing wood and utility replacing style.
