Walt Disney Picture's newest release will be The Sorcerer's Apprentice which is said to be based on a segment of the classic Disney Fantasia. This has history in the 1890s Paul Dukas poem and the 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad. This film is interesting because with all it's historical background it takes place in modern day Manhattan. An experienced sorcerer must save the city from his arch nemesis and takes on a reluctant apprentice that he feels shows hidden potential. While learning to become a sorcerer, the two grow closer together and then take on the enemy to save the citizens.
This new release is going to attract a lot of attention at the theaters and end up causing so much money to be spent on tickets. I just watched it and I completely recommend this film. It's interesting to see these two unlikely partners have to work together and ultimately get along. It is a sweet tale of bonding between the two. I also love the magic! It seems that other types of fantasy have taken over the cinema and television lately, especially the blood sucking, half dead type. I like to see the sorcery and magic on screen.
