Indore is in Madhya Pradesh. It is the largest city in the state and is located about 190 km west of Bhopal. Indore is considered as the commercial capital of Central India for its importance in trading finance, research, technology, art and textile. It is one of the main tourist and business destinations in Central India. Holy city of Ujjain lies at 55 km north of Indore.
Indore is well-connected to the rest of the country by road, rail and air. Indore by road is about 190 km from Bhopal and the journey will take around 3 hrs. The route goes through the following places Bhopal 35 km => Sehore 42 km => Ashta 75 km => Dewas 40 km => Indore. As you start from Bhopal towards southeast, travel through NH86 to enter Sehore bypass road. Continue through NH86 to cross Bhaurasa and Sonkatch near Ashta, and then through NH3 to Dewas and then Indore. There are BPCL and Indian Oil petrol pumps on the route at your convenience. Ashta and Dewas townships are convenient breaks in the journey. State transport buses ply regular services from Bhopal to Indore and the fare is around Rs 300 one way. Om Sairam travels, Verma travels and Shrinath travels are some of the bus operators and tickets can be booked on line.
There are several private owned semi sleeper and deluxe buses also operating between Bhopal and Indore. Different types of car rental services are also available as an alternate option to travel to Indore from Bhopal.

This train departs Bhopal Habibganj station at 20.30 hrs and reach Indore at 23.50 hrs going through, Bairagarh, Shujalpur, Maksi and Dewas.
Air India, SpiceJet and Jet Airways operate daily direct flights to Indore from Bhopal and the time taken is about 1 hr. Ticket fare is about Rs 3000.
