The Hormone Connection To Poor Hair Regrowth In Women
Female hair loss is a condition which is rarely the same with male baldness

DHT binds with the androgen receptor in the follicles. And thus, it is said that the abundance of DHT in the follicles causes balding, and not the amount of circulating testosterone. The build-up of DHT in the follicles starves the follicles, resulting in gradual hair loss.
Because women also have trace amounts of testosterone produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands, they can also be prone to DHT-induced hair loss, AGA. Women with AGA develop a diffuse pattern of hair thinning (illustrated in the Ludwig Scale). AGA tends to run in the family and is polygenic.
Androgens operate well when there is delicate hormonal balance. However, in female cases of hair loss and poor hair regrowth, the androgens need not be increased significantly to trigger hair thinning. When the estrogen levels are reduced, this can make the androgens more potent, thus this makes DHT harmful enough for the hair follicles.
During the fall/autumn season, testosterone levels are said to be very high while very low during the spring. This would explain why hair grows most during spring as opposed to fall. Both men and women experience seasonal hair cycling.
