Tamron 28 75 Review
Did you know that Sigma and Tamron make lenses for Canon and Nikon cameras
?
This
Tamron 28-75 Review is a result of my love affair with third party providers. That lens is attached to my Canon 30D most of the time.
When a consumer is purchasing a digital SLR, there is an alternative to get it with a kit lens or just buy the body. At the time, the kit lens was not highly regarded at all by most photography websites.
The Tamron 28-75mm lens for Canon rose to the top of the heap as I did my research. This was based on several factors, not the least of which was my budget. Since buying that Tamron 28-75, is has served well. In fact it has remained the lens of choice even after upgrading the Canon digital SLR.
Since it is not a Canon L lens, it does not get the respect that those highly revered lenses get in all the reviews, however, this little Tamron lens is really excellent.
There are some great benefits that make this an excellent lens, but let me tell you about the two most compelling reasons that make this a first class lens choice for your Canon digital SLR.
Number one is the wide aperture of f/2.8. It is constant throughout the total focal range, meaning that it does not matter what focal length you opt for, you will be getting the fastest shutter speed. This is truly necessary when you are shooting in less than ideal light situations.
Next is the quick focus. I have used some Canon L lenses, and my Tamron works just as well as those high priced models. The bokeh is really nice too. If you are not acquainted with the term "bokeh", it is the nicely blurred background of a photo. This happens when you shoot your picture at a fairly wide aperture (like 2.8). The plane of focus is quite shallow, rendering the background and foreground as blurry.
Just lately, I was talking with a photographer friend of mine who was doing some work at my school. He knows that I am also a photographer. As he was moving around and shooting his images, he mentioned that he had just bought this "impressive little lens" for his Canon 5D. He commented that he was so impressed with his new lens that he was recommending it to everyone he saw.
It turns out that he was speaking about a
Tamron 28-75 Canon lens. I was pretty astonished that a pro photographer would even think to attach a third party lens to such an amazing camera as the 5D.
I truly should not have been that astonished. All things considered, I have been defining the benefits of this excellent lens for years. But I had normally thought of the Tamron 28-75 lens as a beginner Canon digital slr lens.
Needless to say that is not the case. It is a great alternative for amateurs and pros alike.
Think about it, you will be pleasantly amazed after shooting a few frames at how effectively the lens handles, the crisp, clear images that it yields, the quick focus, and the satisfying bokeh. Oh, and the cost. You will salvage a bundle of cash if you buy this lens instead of an L lens of the same focal length and aperture.
