Short Breaks In The Uk Becoming More Popular Than Holidays Abroad
Share: The childrens summer holiday is nearly over, and next week for some it will be back to school
, but there are always weekends to take a short break somewhere in the UK.
It is always best to plan ahead, and although time has run out for more than a week away at this time, there is always the October half term to look forward to. With the cost of family holidays abroad on the increase it is a fact that more families choose to plan holidays and short breaks right here in the UK rather than book holidays abroad.
There has been many surveys conducted to calculate exactly what is happening in the tourism market, and very recent figures released have compared figures from November 2010 to the same period in 2009 and it has shown that fewer UK holidaymakers actually took trips abroad.
As austerity policies and cut-backs have cut deep into everyones lifestyle, the great British public have begun to feel the pinch in their pockets, and it is looking like it will serve as a catalyst for a change in the thinking behind annual holidays and short breaks.
Share: In the 1960s camping became the standard for fun family holidays and Devon and Cornwall were the most popular destinations in the UK for this type of holiday, campsites in Cornwall were becoming more popular than boarding houses which had been the normal holiday option for the average family.
Camping and caravanning is able to offer families more freedom than hotel or guesthouse accommodation, and more importantly less expensive. Children find the idea of camping exciting and a great adventure. This type of holiday has grown in popularity and holidaymakers do still seek out one of the many Cornwall caravan parks, or maybe Devon, in fact recent figures indicate that 1.2 million people choose camping and caravanning as their family holiday break in the UK each year.
Devon and Cornwall is perfect for camping and caravanning, with milder weather conditions, scenery, coastal and country options, also with lush rolling hills and several areas of outstanding natural beauty, is it any wonder that a Devon caravan park or campsite has made these two counties of England a popular choice.
With millions of holidaymakers flocking to the West country each year it has resulted in a vast range of sites spreading across the counties, offering an envious choice of coastal and countryside options. There can be nothing better than a caravan park Cornwall or the same facilities in Devon for a fun packed family holiday.
Camping and caravanning has been popular in the UK for more than 100 years, and the lovers of this leisure pastime will know the first campers handbook was written in 1908 by Thomas Hiram Holding, his experiences and basic camping skills eventually led to founding what we know today as The Camping and Caravanning Club.
A spokesman for Wooda Farm Holiday Park in North Cornwall on the border with Devon said you can tour either Devon and Cornwall, furthermore a campsite Devon can be as comfortable as our very own site here at Wooda, we take pride in pleasing our holidaymakers and nothing is too much trouble.
