Shanghai 2010 Is Best Excuse For A China Travel
Share: One hundred and fifty-nine years ago the first world expo was held at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, England
. It attracted over 12,000 exhibitors and an unheard of, for the time, almost one million visitors. Now, China will be host to the Shanghai expo 2010 from May 1 to October 31. It is anticipated that history will be made in Shanghai. More countries (almost two hundred) and more visitors (anticipated to be close to one hundred million) will participate in the Shanghai Expo than any other previous world exposition.
Visitors should wear comfortable shoes. In terms of size, the exposition will cover more than 5.25 square kilometers. The expo's theme is "Better City - Better Life." As such, the five plus square km will be home to five pavilions, with each pavilion representing a different motif of urban development.
One pavilion will be the Urbanian Pavilion will concentrate on city life and people. Strong emphasis will be placed upon such issues as family, learning, health and work. Its main attraction will be video displays of six real families from five different continents. Spectators will realize the challenges these families from the six different countries face.
Pavilion of City Being focuses in on a city's infrastructure. It promises to offer in great detail the complex requirements and networks necessary for a city to thrive. A close examination of the delivery systems for water, transportation, and energy to urban consumers, in all of its complexity, will be on display for the visitor.
Share: Pavilion of Urban Planet will feature a 32 meter diameter globe called "The Blue Planet." This globe hopes to raise appreciation of the value of our planet. One of the many shows here will focus on possible threats to the ecosystem caused by the fast growth of a city. Also explored is to be potential solutions to these issues.
The Pavilion of Footprints will be comprised of a 3000 square meter lobby and 3 exhibition halls. The City's Origin Hall exhibits life during the agrarian era. Growing City Hall looks at urban development of cities like Istanbul, Amsterdam and Florence. Urban Wisdom Hall takes a look at how cities like London and New York were affected by the Industrial Revolution. The good and bad (innovations and resultant problems) will be covered. The lobby will represent Ideal Fantasy City, a fabricated ideal city with both Eastern and Western aspects.
Pavilion of Urban Dreams offers a glance into the future. It stresses the importance of a society where tradition and technology can be appreciated simultaneously as new cities grow and older ones are revived. Five utopian street settings are designed to encourage city development. A 36 meter high screen will show an animated film and is sure to draw huge crowds.
The Shanghai Expo 2010 is already looking to be a big hit of magnificent proportions. People will be coming from all corners of the globe to be part of this amazing experience. Ticket information is available on the expo website along with other information on the various attractions and how visitors can maximize this event.
