Pets have always been a very interesting and a very entertaining means of passing one's time. One of the rarest kinds of pet bird that is found in homes is the chattering lory bird. The chattering lory is basically a parrot that dwells in the forest. The chattering lory parrot is a very vulnerable breed of bird that is on the brink of extinction and its main threat is that of being caged for trade in the markets. The chattering lory is mostly red in color and it has an all red head and an orange beak. The vibrantly color of the chattering lory makes it all the more attractive and sought after species of parrot and hence a more endangered species too. Another attractive feature of the chattering lory are its eyes. The eye rings of the chattering lory are grey and its irises are orangish red. The wings of the chattering lory are mainly green and the angle of the wing is yellow. Making the chattering lory all the more colorful are its thighs that are green in color. The tail is tipped with dark green and it has dark grey legs. The bird may or may not have a yellow area on its back depending on its subspecies.
Among fishes, the redline torpedo barb fish is a popular choice for pets. The redline torpedo barb fish is a subtropical fish and is found mostly in the southern parts of India. The redline torpedo barb fish gets its name from its appearance which is characterized by a torpedo shaped body with silver scales and a red line running from its snout, through its eyes, and then back towards the middle of the fish's body. Below the red line, a black line runs through the length of the fish's body. The redline torpedo barb fish is usually kept in groups in the aquarium.
