Renting a car seems pretty straight forward, but there are a lot of different factors that go into it that can make your price or quality go up or down. There are some questions that you should ask before you go and put your money down.
1. What am I going to have to pay extra each day for charges or surcharges? You need to make sure that you know about each charge, because they tend to creep up on you at times, especially if you don't ask about them upfront, a lot of places may not be so eager to offer up information unless you inquire about it.
2. Unlimited Mileage. This is something that you need to ask about especially if you are planning on a road trip or a long distance overall when you are renting your vehicle. Sometimes you will have to pay more over a certain set amount when it comes to mileage. This is why it is important to ask about because they won't end up telling you.
3. What if the car isn't back at the time is is supposed to be? Many companies will allow you a short grace period like if the car is due back at noon and you get back at 12:05 you won't pay extra, but other companies can charge you for a whole extra day, for just those five minutes you went over. Some companies offer a prorated per hour amount when you go over. This is an issue you should address in advance in case you get lost, or are running a little behind.
4. What kind of road service policy is available when renting a vehicle? This is important to know in case you are in a place that is new to you and you have never been to before and also when you are in another state or country. Asking if you will have to pay for repairs is important and also knowing someone has your back is a good feeling to have when driving.
