Putting Those Extra Products To Work For Your Business
Most multilevel marketing companies have a requirement (sometimes called autoship)
which requires you to buy a certain amount of product per month to stay active in the company. The reasons for this requirement are the subject of many articles. No matter how much you like and use your products, you can find yourself with an over abundance of product, perhaps more than you can ever use, even if you love them. Plus there are always those discontinued items. What to do? It would be great to put them to a use that would also benefit your business wouldn't it?
Stop-n-Shop. If you have products that are generally useful to a large number of people and you live in a fairly populated neighborhood, consider having stop-n-shop. This involves not much work on your part and can result in a lot of people learning about your business. Pick and day and a time range when you will be home (and people are likely to be available). Print postcards announcing that you will be having a stop-n-shop on that day. Take the postcards around to people in your neighborhood (and mail some out to other people around that might be interested). That day, put a sign in your yard (if your neighborhood allows it) put the products out that you wish to sell (a dining room table works great). It is also nice to put out products that people can order. Be sure you have information about your company available. Also be sure that all the prices are clearly marked. Be creative. Make suggested gift baskets or have information available that shows how the products work or their outstanding features. If nothing else, the people in the neighborhood now know what company you represent.
Charities. If you have products such as soaps, cleaning supplies, food products, or any personal item, consider donating the products to a charity. Shelters are often looking for cleaning supplies. Even vitamins and supplements are sometimes accepted, but call ahead. These kinds of products are particularly welcome during the "off season" (summer and other times of year when giving is often on a downturn). While it may not get you future customers, it will get you a nice tax deduction and someone that might normally not have access to your great products will get a chance to use them.
Gifts. Do you have people that you know would like your products, but they have never tried them? Consider giving them a gift of one of your products. You can tell them that you are giving them this product because you value their opinion. Be sure you follow-up and ask how they liked the product. While the gift came with no strings attached, if they like it enough they just may order later.
Put those products to work for you. They certainly aren't doing anything on the shelf!
