Our Cherry Blossom Events and Adventures in Washington D.C
Attending the Cherry Blossom Festival this year was an events I had been looking forward to for months. My husband and I had never been to Washington, D.C. before so not only were excited about seeing the cherry blossoms, we wanted to see so much more as well. We planned to stay in DC for five nights.
Several people had warned us that the blossoms were not going to be in full blooms due to the cold weather in Washington, but they were absolutely breathtaking. It was an incredible adventures. Afterwards we walked around the city taking in all of the sights. We walked the entire length of the The Mall seeing all of the historical memorials and monuments. By then we were starving so we found a great seafood restaurant and headed back to the hotel.
When we got back to the hotel there was a note slipped under our door that said that see the front desk. They told us that we had apparently only made a reservation for one night and that the people who were checking into our room had been waiting for hours. After arguing and haggling for another room in the same hotel that was fully booked we had to leave. It was obviously some clerical error, but it was quite an events because every hotel in DC was booked for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Share:
Apparently, people book rooms 6-9 months in advance! After calling every chain hotel in DC one lady who we spoke to said that her hotel chain had rooms available in Alexandria. So we had no choice but to take the metro to Alexandria and check in there. After that whole adventures we checked into to a nicer room than we had before and just wanted to sleep. The whole incident was exhausting!
As we were drifting off to sleep we heard this train go by. Then there was another train. By the third train - which was quite loud by the way - we looked out of the hotel window only to see that our room was directly on top of a metro rail. Now, considering the trains run until 2:00a.m. and start up again at 5:00a.m. we knew we would have to buy earplugs. The trip was a bust because it rained most all of the time we were there, but the greatest events was the day we saw the cherry blossoms.
