The nightlife in Mecca is lively and it is the time of day that is cool and pleasant, particularly in the warmer months. Go out from your Mecca hotel and head toward the streets surrounding the Grand Mosque. Since this is the holy city, most activity at night revolves around prayer and visits to the holy places.

The streets seem to come alive in the evening hours. They bustle with pilgrims during Hajj, and with visitors that have come to see the holiest of places. The Harem is more beautiful by night, as it is lit up and prepared for the night crowds that come to pray at all hours.

Enjoy a wonderful meal in one of the plentiful restaurants that reflect the cultures of the many visitors to Mecca. The meals are available for everyone, regardless of budget. You can pick up an a la carte item as a snack, or you can eat a full course meal. Get dessert with the children at the local creamery.
Shop
The shops are open late at night, as that is when most people come to do their shopping. Walk the alleyway souks and then have a meal at a traditional Mecca restaurant. Heraa is one of the best according to locals and visitors alike. Saffron is king here, and it is not spared in the fine dish call Ruz Kabli. Find the Date Store and delight in a local delicacy. Haggle for the best deal as the prices are not fixed. Buy a schwarma from a street vendor. You may even get a taste of camel meat.
