Jack Johnson Tickets - Giving Money To The Sea

The free spirited surfer turned mellow rocker is all about giving back to the community

, even if it isn't his own. Jack Johnson, a proponent of conservation and sustainability efforts, has focused his fundraising earnings through the new album To the Sea toward the Gulf Coast disaster. The Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation will donate around $70,000 toward the disastrous BP oil spill during his ongoing fundraising campaign in To the Sea tour support.

The second leg of his jaunt began Friday, Aug. 13 and will have Johnson teaming with All at Once for fan involvement in the cause. Support his charity and his songs this year with Jack Johnson tickets from StubHub.

Jack Johnson isn't your average celebrity - you won't find him written about in the pages of US Magazine or spot him handling a cup of Starbucks in the early afternoons. There's something totally unique about this former professional surfer turned guitar strumming musician who turns everyone on to his music, even if he isn't a tabloid favorite.

Now with his charitable efforts it seems even more fans are rallying toward his cause. Johnson's Ohana Charitable Foundation will donate $30,000 in direct donations to the Gulf Coast disaster, and follow that up by $40,000 in matching grants. The project is just one of many that Johnson and his team are involved in, having donated to other nonprofits like Gulf Waterkeepers, the Gulf Restoration Network, Ocean Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, Surfrider Foundation and others.

Johnson emerged onto the scene as if by accident, writing songs simply to accompany a surfing video he had created with friends. While Thicker Than Water received the spotlight (earning Video of the Year by Surfer Magazine), so did his songwriting abilities. Before he knew it, Johnson's lyrics were in the hands of G. Love & Special Sauce for the 1999 album Philadelphonic. With the help of the producer who discovered Ben Harper, Johnson recorded Brushfire Fairytales in 2001.

After platinum results and a subsequent tour, Johnson returned with On and On. The sophomore release earned Johnson a reputation for drawing political commentary into his mellow licks like "Times Like These," "Traffic in the Sky," "Taylor" and "Dreams be Dreams." A surfer version of Harper, fans instantly took to Johnson's funky pop licks, helping singles like "The Horizon has been Defeated" to make the Adult Top 40.

It might have seemed out of character for Johnson to remain on the charts, but that's what he kept on doing. In 2005 he returned with In Between Dreams, an album that he recorded in his Mango Trees Studios on the North Show of Oahu. Next came the film soundtrack Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George, which was his first to debut at the top of Billboard's charts. The album seemed to grant him mainstream success, as 2008's Sleep through Static and To the Sea both premiered at the top of his charts. If you're ready to welcome summer, Jack Johnson tickets are the ideal way to do so, even if you're not by the sea.
