Is Diy Printing Really A Feasible Option For Professional Businesses
Once the design aspect of any promotional materials has been complete
, a company is faced with making a decision between two options. Firstly, they can take the design and print it themselves or secondly, they can hire a professional printing company to print the design for them. Although the latter is a particularly popular option due to the quality of results produced, it should not always be taken as a given that this is the most suitable choice, as some materials can be printed sufficiently in-house.Take business card printing as an example. All printing companies will offer this as one of their services and the results will be of a high quality and produced within a minimal amount of time. Whilst this may be the case, assuming that high quality card has been purchased, there is no reason why they cannot be printed in-house on a laser jet printer. Furthermore, by doing this, it is possible to only print business cards as and when they are required, meaning that there is no need for storage or for their to be redundant cards lying around the office due to contact details being changed after a batch of business cards were printed.
The same applies to compliment slips, another promotional material that as long as a good quality office printer is available to use and paper of a respectable grade is purchased, they can be printed to a sufficient standard without the need for a professional company.
Whilst DIY printing may be appropriate for compliment slips and business card printing, these are only two (and generally the smallest two) of all of the paper based promotional materials that can be utilized. Although it would be ideal if DIY printing was a possibility for all options, this is very rarely the case, for a variety of different reasons.
For other advertising methods, such as leaflets or flyers, although DIY printing is a possibility, it is seen as the more complex and less efficient option, as the time it takes to produce a quality leaflet or flyer in-house is a considerable amount greater (and therefore more expensive overall) than hiring a dedicated printing company.
Posters are also particularly suited to dedicated printer companies, primarily for the fact that as a substantial amount of office printers do not have the ability to print anything larger than the standard A4 size, it can be very problematic when looking at larger posters. Due to this reason, it can be a lot more cost effective to send a design to a printing company and have them print the poster on the required size than purchasing a new printer with the facility to produce results on a larger scale than A4.
In essence, DIY printing is a feasible option in some cases, both in terms of the product that is being printed and the business who it is for. In other instances, however, such as those where a higher quality product is needed, a dedicated printing company will be the better option and it must be remembered that overall, a professional company will almost always produce better end results that any DIY printing.
