Article #39 How To: Online Advertising & Pay Per Click
Pay per click and online advertising are types of ads where the advertiser captures the attention of a prospect and gets them to take action and click on the ad. They are then taken to a page that will capture their name and email for more information to be sent to them. Search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN charges the advertiser an ad space for a certain time, or charges the advertiser per click every time a prospect clicks on the ad. Each click in a pay per click ad can cost the advertiser from a penny to three dollars or more depending on the keyword or tags they are bidding on.
The higher your bid for that keyword or tag, the more often your ad shows up and gets clicked on. The keywords you pick would tell Google, Yahoo! and MSN, which target audience you are paying for. To get started with any of these search engines, you would create a pay per click account. You would then create campaigns and ad groups for each of the keywords or tags you want to optimize for. The easiest way to do this is create a seed keyword like shoes and create ad groups for each kind of shoes like tennis shoes.
The more specific you are with the keyword or tags, the more you target your prospect on your pay per click and online advertising. When this happens, the person searching for tennis shoes will find your site relevant to tennis shoes and will purchase because they found what they were looking for.
And that is the key to the keywords and tags you pay to advertise for. See what is on the capture page and landing page; find keywords and tags for that page, and use that in your pay per click advertising. Pay per click and online advertising is simple anybody can do it. The advertisers have more control over their target audience and budget. In pay per click advertising it is easy to see which keywords are working because you will see a ton of leads and clicks. And more importantly cash in your pocket. Good luck and God Bless!
