You usually are not really helped by Sports Drinks. You've probably been thinking that the sports drink is the proper way to help your body feel better after a workout. Most medical doctors recognize, however, that if your exercise routine is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks could totally undermine your diet program because they are filled to the brim with sugar, empty calories and artificial colors and flavors. Choose chocolate milk for your drink instead. The sugars in the chocolate can help your muscles start to recover and the calcium in milk keeps your bones strong.

Skip your protein shakes. Lots of people think that protein shakes may be used in place of meals and to curb cravings between meals. What you will be actually doing, specifically if the rest of your diet consists of whole and healthy foods, is helping your body overdose on protein. Contrary to popular thinking, protein isn't going to get saved as muscle, it gets stored as fat. If you've already eaten your daily allotment of protein that day, your whole body will just save the extra in your fat cells for later and that won't help you drop pounds or inches.

Pre-packaged deli meat seriously isn't very healthy at all. It's typically thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a massive amount preservatives and will provide you with about a third of your advised sodium intake for the day. This is going to be especially harmful if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Rather than purchasing pre-packaged deli meat, pick some home cooked chicken or the deli meats that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these are extra expensive options but they are tremendously healthier for you.

There are lots of things that we think are healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your doctor which items are the best to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you give consideration and are careful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
