Five Ways To Ensure You Have Enough Money For Christmas
Share: There aren't many people around the world who don't enjoy the whole Christmas time of year.
Some people like it as they get to see family they don't often spend much time with; others because they receive presents that they've been waiting for months for and there are just as many who like Christmas for the simple fact that they get some time of work.
Whatever the reason you enjoy Christmas, however, your plans can be put on hold - or cancelled altogether - if you're lacking the necessary funds.
Of course, Christmas doesn't have to be about spending substantial amounts of money on everyone, but at a time of giving and receiving, most people would like to be able to enjoy for Christmas in relative financial comfort.
Share: Therefore, if you find that you struggle at Christmas, take a look through these five points to help you ensure that you have enough money for the festive period.
1. Save throughout the year - OK, so this isn't something that will help for Christmas 2010, but the best way to ensure that you have enough money for Christmas is to save a little each month.
For example, if you need 500 pounds to cover the whole cost of Christmas, rather than taking 250 pounds out of your October and November salary, it would be much easier financially if you were to take 41 pounds from your pay each month throughout the year.
2. Buy early - as great as it can be shopping when the festive season is in full swing, you're going to be spending the least amount of money if you start shopping early.
Buy your Christmas cards and wrapping paper in the New Year sales, take advantage of summer offers and try and have all of your Christmas presents bought and wrapped up before 1 December.
3. Use cash back websites - a particularly good way to use the internet to save money on your Christmas shopping is to use cash back websites, which are simply websites that give you money for using them as a portal to visit your favourite websites.
You might not get a substantial amount, but if you were to spend 500 pounds on presents at Christmas and the cash back website offered 15 percent cash back, that's 75 pounds you can save straight away.
4. Swap your home services - unless you check the price of your home services regularly, it's likely that you'll be able to save money on them by swapping.
Find out how much you're paying, what you're getting for your money and head online to use everything from gas to broadband comparison websites.
5. Write a grocery shopping list - it can seem like everyone goes somewhat over the top at Christmas with their shopping, buying masses of food that they think they're going to eat but which they very rarely manage to.
To save yourself money - and inches on your waist line - write a shopping list, take it with you when you go for food for Christmas and be sure to stick to it.
