My husband was fast approaching 50 and I needed to decide on an appropriate Birthday present. I always struggled to find him the perfect gift. He was the perfect example of a man who has everything. He had a vintage Rolex, a Cartier Pen and a brand new Mercedes CLS class parked proudly on the drive way. My husband had led a varied life. After leaving the army at 20 years old, he trained privately to become a Helicopter pilot. Five years later he opened his own company offering pleasure flights over the Alps. He also trained as a Hot Air Balloon Pilot, specialising in trips over the Mont Blanc. He had worked for Formula One and trained as a Chef. He could Ski, Surf and Sail. There was not much he couldn't do. I was a lot younger than my husband. 16 years younger to be precise. I always felt this put me at a disadvantage when it came to buying gifts. Secondly my budget was not as flexible as his and this limited my spending power. I tried to think of gifts relating to his hobbies. He loved Golf but then I always bought him golf related presents. His other love was the great outdoors. Fishing and hunting. He had just bought himself a little hunting lodge in Scotland. A place literally to bunk in. He went hunting there every weekend with the dogs. He always took my car as he was too worried about the dogs making a mess in his. Suddenly I had come up with the perfect gift. A used 4 x4 vehicle, especially for hunting. I went to a car dealer Car Dealership Newcastle in Newcastle and bought him an 8 year old Land Rover Freelander. He absolutely loved it and drove if for 5 years. Unfortunately he died one year ago but I am glad I had managed to give him so much fun, with his dogs, in the great outdoors. He absolutely loved it and drove if for 5 years.
