The warm tropical waters hold many fish that are as colorful as the birds. There is an abundance of marine life under the sea. Snorkeling and scuba diving allows one to see the many colorful fish and other creatures that live there. The water is so clear, some can be observed from a boat. Others swim closer to the sandy bottom of the ocean.

Many endangered species make their home in the area. This includes the spectacled bear, the ocelot and the dwarf brocket. Otter and other wildlife roam the mountains. Cuzco and other local villages show traces of the Inca architects who constructed Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes.
Hiking isolated mountain trails is an outdoor activity for strong and rugged individuals. Narrow trails wind through the rain forest on the Brazilian Green Coast. Trekkers see brightly colored parrots, birds of other species and small animals that live in the hot, humid environment. Vistas of beauty are all around, from the Andes Mountains in Peru to the pristine beaches of the coast. There are volcanic landscapes in Ecuador and a canopy of trees in the rain forest. There is no end to the beauty seen during South America travel.
