Enjoying Dominican Republic Holidays In The Caribbean Queen
Share: For customers looking to grab a bargain, Cooke reports, it's highly likely that cheap and cheerful Dominican Republic holidays will spring to mind, especially in the popular beach resort of Puerto Plata, offering some of the best all-inclusive holiday deals in the Caribbean holidays market. With a solid base and charter stronghold connecting many worldwide destinations to the famed resort, it's no wonder more and more people choose Puerto Plata as their holiday destination when looking to stay in the Dominican Republic.
But for those who want to go beyond cheap holiday escapes, the Dominican Republic also offers a wealth of natural attractions and upscale accommodation for luxury holidays in the Caribbean island nation.
We are working towards changing peoples perception of our country, Sabrina Cambiaso, director of the Dominican Republic Tourist Board explains, Because of our vast size and natural diversity we can cater to niche markets including golf, history and luxury.
Share: Many of our adverts are currently promoting the eco and adventure offering of the Dominican Republic and we will continue with these, while also promoting the growth of our all-inclusive side.
And for those thinking about embarking on holidays to the Dominican Republic from the UK, the amount of flights servicing the route won't disappoint them either. British Airways recently launched a twice-weekly flight to the second most popular Dominican Republic resort of Punta Cana while KLM is following its move with two new weekly flights via Havana outbound, and non-stop to Amsterdam on the return flight, giving passengers travelling to the Dominican Republic from regional airports the option of connecting in Schipol
Jo Cooke in her Travel Weekly report tells us her experience when setting out to enjoy holidays in the Dominican Republic: "As a guest of the tourist board I flew Air France via Charles de Gaulle into Punta Cana airport. Walking into the arrivals hall, I got my first taste of how things are different here. The building has gable roofs thatched with palm fronds and is open-sided, allowing a cool breeze to caress you as you wait at baggage reclaim. Definitely a new experience. "
She goes on to explain that in the Dominican Republic she found that there is something for everyone to do. As home to the largest lake, tallest mountain and highest waterfall in the Caribbean, nature lovers will have plenty of exploring and hiking to do with the towering peak of Pico Duarte, fringed by Alpine forests with wild flowers and at a height of 3000 metres being described as " a walker's paradise" by Cooker.
For a more cosmopolitan experience Jo suggests taking a trip to the capital of Santo Domingo, a must for history lovers. As the oldest city in the Americas, its old colonial town dates back to the 16th century and the city makes a great twin-centre option for those looking to mix beach holidays with culture.
Having the largest amount of golf courses in the West Indies, golf lovers will be treated to golfing paradise with as many as 28 golf courses to choose from, all designed by prestigious names such as Greg Norman and Nick Faldo.
As for accommodation, in the Dom Rep (as more tour operators refer to the Dominican Republic) it can be as luxurious or as basic as you like, with some good value for money deals always available and including the wonderful 3-star resort Amhsa Marina Casa Marina Reef or the fantastic 4-star Occidental Grand Flamenco Punta Cana, always a great option for families and couples.
Share: When it comes to indulging luxury holidays, the Domincan Republic also boasts some pretty stunning properties. As Katherine Hobbs, Caribbtours product manager explains: "There are some stunning new resorts in the Punta Cana area that offer exceptional value for money.
This, coupled with the direct service from British Airways, convinced us that the Dom Rep is now a viable luxury destination for our discerning clients.
A good example is the ultra-deluxe, fully inclusive Zoetry Agua Punta Cana, a truly lavish five-star swish retreat with an immaculate collection of 51 suites. Featuring the hotel brand's signature Endless Privileges stays here are guaranteed to be incredibly pampering experiences with unlimited premium brand beverages, gourmet restaurant and first class entertainment options.
