Chicago Bulls Tickets - 2010-11 Season Preview
The Chicago Bulls might have struck out in their pursuit of free agents like LeBron James
, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but the team still put together a solid offseason that could have them in contention for home court advantage in the first round of the postseason this year. The Bulls have shown themselves to be a team on the rise over the past two seasons, powered by point guard sensation Derrick Rose. Rose has some new running mates, as well as a new head coach in defensive ace Tom Thibodeau, that could make a world of difference for this team's hopes.
The Bulls did well in landing free agency consolation prize Carlos Boozer this offseason. For the first time since the days of Elton Brand, fans that purchase Chicago Bulls tickets will see a legitimate post presence donning Bull red. Boozer has consistently been one of the best power forwards in the league over the past half decade or so, though he's been a bit injury prone. However, Boozer played in 78 games in 2009-10, which is a good sign. Boozer is a double-double machine that can bang down low, hit the midrange jumper and rebound with the best of them. His bread and butter in Utah was running the pick-and-roll with Deron Williams, and one would think that Thibodeau would implement some of the pick-and-roll game with Boozer and Rose. I would not be surprised to see Boozer become a focal point of the Chicago offense right away this season.
The Bulls also did a lot to address their need for outside shooting in acquiring Kyle Korver. Korver can play both the two and three positions and is one of the best pure shooters in the league. Korver nailed an astounding 49 percent of his three-point attempts last season, good for the best mark in the NBA. He'll provide valuable sharpshooting off the pine for the Bulls going forward. Another solid addition to the team this offseason was that of Ronnie Brewer. Brewer is an underrated player that can do a little bit of everything; if he could shoot more, people would know his name. Brewer looks like a good bet to lock down the starting shooting guard spot this preseason.
We'll likely see a starting lineup of Rose, Brewer, Boozer, Luol Deng and Joakim Noah in Chicago this season. That's one of the better starting fives in the league and could be good enough to push this team into the top-tier of the conference. They will probably end up a step behind Miami and Orlando, but one can't rule out the possibility that everything will gel quickly and the Bulls will be in serious contention this season.
A lot of the Bulls' success will still depend on Rose. Rose has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best, point guards in the league and has been taking steps toward that echelon since entering the NBA. Rose is set to begin his third pro season and has reportedly been working hard on his three-point shooting this offseason, an addition to his game that could take him to the next level. If Rose can make the leap, he and Boozer could form a similar duo to the one Boozer was a part of in Utah. Add in defensive ace Noah, as well as the underrated Deng, and the Bulls could really have something going.
