Christmas is stressful enough without the worry of whether you are buying genuine leather goods.
Telling the difference between genuine and fake leather is not always as easy as you might think so watch out. Look to see if there is a label saying that the product is leather. This might seem obvious but it's a good place to start. Purses, wallets and bags made from real leather with usually indicate this on the label. If you are looking at a fake it you will probably find the words made from man-made materials'. Don't risk it by buying a product without a label. The next step is to feel the leather. Different leathers will feel different to the touch; some feel rough and others soft and smooth. What gives an item away as being a fake is uniformity of texture. Man-made materials feel very smooth whereas the texture of real leather is not so consistent. This is due to the nature of leather as a natural material. Also check for pores on the surface of the leather. If fake they will be in a regular pattern whereas real ones will be completely random.
When on the internet always buy your Christmas presents from a reputable retailer or trusted website. If you are shopping online and you haven't heard of a particular brand or website, do a little research. Are there any other sites that stock the product you are interested in? Are there any reviews of the product, brand or website? Do lots of people like' it on Facebook? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you are probably okay to go ahead with your purchase.
Remember to trust your instincts. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
