The Humble Origins
Residing in a residence housed with risky snakes, lizards, injured birds and orphaned kangaroos had been standard to the Irwin family.
Bob was a known herpetologist whom had a love for lizards and venomous snakes and his Mum, Lyn looked after wounded and orphaned animals. Steve used to say his Mum is the Mother Teresa of wildlife rehabilitation! There has been not a space within their home that do not house a captured reptile or rescued animal.
Even in the past, Steve and his naturalist parents were Australia's first Wildlife Warriors!
In 1970, the family made a life changing decision to move to Beerwah on the gorgeous Sunshine Coast, in Queensland. Tiny have they understand it, yet Bob's desire running a reptile park could soon come true and be developed to the stunning Australia Zoo!
In 1973, the entrance in the Beerwah Reptile Park opened and displayed crocs, lizards, snakes and also several other animals the Irwin's caught with their bare fists or rescued. The Animal Planet Crocoseum was the fulfillment of one of Steve Irwin's lifelong dreams. It might be hard to imagine now, but just 4 decades before, Australia Zoo was nestled on just four acres. Smack bang in the middle of quiet Beerwah was the Beerwah Reptile Park constructed by Steve and his Dad, Bob. Every day, the car park would overflow with cars as Mums, Dads their children and pals wandered around the park in amazement.
He was a true blue Aussie bloke whose power and passion shone through in all he does.
It had been evident from the manner he held and mentored Bindi, just how much he loved turning into a Dad.
