A Taste Of The Caribbean A Little Closer To Home.
Share: Many holidaymakers choose cheap holidays in Fuerteventura year after year
. This popular Canary Island lies just 100km off the African coast, and is the second largest of the group. It shares the same geographical latitude as Florida and Mexico giving it a near perfect year round climate.
Although of similar volcanic origin, it is the only Canary Island with no high mountains, instead it is blessed with over 150 picturesque sand dunes, and the seemingly endless sandy beaches are home to beautiful swaying palm trees, making some of the scenery here as beautiful as that of the Caribbean. With just a four hour flight from the UK, it makes the perfect year round family destination.
The interior of the island hints at its volcanic beginnings, with a rocky and sometimes baron landscape speckled with simple little white washed villages.
The main resorts youll find on Fuerteventura holidays are Costa Caleta, Costa Calma, Corralejo and Jandina. Corralejo to the north of the island is perhaps the busiest resort, yet never loses its magical family charm. The resort of Costa Caleta used to be known as Caleta de Fuste, and it has a wonderful horseshoe shaped bay with safe calm waters making it perfect for small children. Costa Calma and Jandina are at the southern end of the island and boast some of the best beaches to be found anywhere in the Canary Islands.
Share: Holidays in Fuerteventura provide a wonderful laid back feel, yet there are plenty of excursions on this island should you be tempted to try them. On land why not take a camel trek through the desert like terrain or even try a jeep safari.
A lot of the activities on Fuerteventura holidays are based around the water and at nearly every resort youll be encouraged to try them. You can take lessons in most sports or just have a go and see how you get on.
Fuerteventura is extremely popular with water sports enthusiasts and every July the P.W.A. (Professional Windsurfers Association) world windsurfing speed and slalom event is held in the south of the island at Sotavento. It draws surfers from all over the world and is really exciting to watch.
Sailing and fishing are also extremely popular on Fuerteventura holidays with pirate ships that sail around the coast, catamaran rides over to Lanzarote, or ferry rides to the tiny island of Los Lobos.
There are many PADI Dive Centres on Fuerteventura and divers come here to explore the calm, clear waters around the island. Among the stunning volcanic rock formations below the surface, you can expect to see such beauties as Barracuda, Moray Eels, Angel shark, Parrot fish and maybe even Octopus if youre lucky.
If its a relaxing family break in beautiful surroundings that you are looking for, then
cheap holidays in Fuerteventura could be exactly what you are looking for, you can be as lazy or as energetic as you want to be on this stunning Canary Island.
