5 Gift Ideas For Teenage Boys For 2010
Share: Teenage boys can be a fickle and varied group to shop for this Christmas
. By the time they're teenagers, each boy has very specific interests and hobbies, and is trying to form their own identity. What works for some teens may not work for others. But there a few basic things you might want to keep in mind when buying your teen boy a present this Christmas. Try these ideas out for size, and get your creative gift-giving juices flowing.
1) The last thing you want is your teenager loafing around the house all winter break-he'll already be sleeping in until noon and eating huge amounts of junk food-so take the time to get home something that will get him up and active. For teens who like sports, don't underestimate the power of a brand new shiny pigskin or basketball branded by their favorite team. If your teen isn't so much into sports, try other gifts like a new skateboard or mountain bike. Remember, if it get's him out of the house exercising it's a plus.
2) No matter your teen boy's preferences for physical activity, you probably can't avoid buying some sort of video game this Christmas. Again, keep in mind the preferences of your teen and the gaming system they already have. NCAA Football 11 might be a great gift for a sports oriented-teen, but Fable III might be a better gift for a teen who likes fantasy or strategy games. And of course there are always games like Call of Duty: Black Ops that most teen boys will like. If you want you teen boy to get off the couch a little more, look into getting a Kinect or PS Move-gaming system add-ons that put you in the action and can be fun for the whole family.
3) Once again, getting your teen boy out of the house is always nice. If you can find out what kind of music he likes, why not get him tickets to see a favorite band. Or better yet, get him two and he can make it a date or take a friend-cause no one wants to go to concert alone.
4) We were all kids once, and we know how important it is to wear the right clothes and look good. And lets face it, while you may not like everything your teen wants to wear, a teen who's confident in their appearance is a happier. If you don't want to presume to pick out the kind of clothes you think he'll like, get him a gift certificate to a popular clothing store, or-better yet-take him to the mall for a day of clothes shopping so he can show you what he wants.
5) Lastly, most teens like music, but it can be hard to find out which bands or groups your teen is really into. An iPod is a great way to give him the gift of music. Or, if he already has one, why not get him an iTunes gift card so he can pick out exactly what he wants to listen to.
