If you are using bunk beds for your children's bedrooms

, you can modify your kids bunk beds so that they can be fun and attractive. Lots of great ideas are available for bunk beds but before you start on the project, check with your children to see what theme they would prefer for their bed and bedroom.

Follow a meadow theme

Bunk beds with a meadow theme may really delight your little girls. You can paint the top bunk in a way that it looks like the sky. Use sky blue paint and add details such as a sun and clouds. You can either utilize a stencil to paint the sun and clouds or paste pictures of clouds and a sun on the sky-blue paint. For the lower bunk, paint it with a combination of green and brown so that it resembles the ground. Butterflies and flowers could be painted upon the surface of the bottom bed frame. Additional props like flower garlands may also be used and twisted around the bed's guardrails and posts. Don't hang any of the props too low and don't hang them on the ladder as it could make it difficult for your child to move up or down.

Bunk beds can be made to resemble a castle

A castle motif will work well for both little boys and girls. Towers made of cardboard tubes and paper mache can be used to cap the top of bed posts. Over the tip of the turrets, attach some banners and flags. Repaint the bed posts and the framework of the bed so that it looks as if they were made of stone. You can also decorate the floor around the bed so that it looks like a moat. A blue-colored carpet can be put around the bed. Cut a piece of cardboard and paint it in a way that it resembles a wooden draw bridge, and lay it over the blue carpet perpendicular to the bunk bed.

Install decorative lights

A simple but functional option for your bunk bed is to enhance it with multi-colored lights. Install colorful push lights on the bed posts and around the bed so that your children can see even in the dark. You can also paint the ladder of the bed with glow-in-the-dark paint so your kids will have better visibility when climbing up to the top bunk in the dark.

Recreate a tree-house using the bunk bed

You can embellish your children's bunk bed so that it resembles a tree house. Find wallpaper with a tree design and attach it to the wall directly behind the bunk bed. You can also cut out a tree picture from cardboard and attach it on the wall instead of the wallpaper. Utilize brown paint to make the bed look like a wooden tree house. Add more decors like artificial vines along the sides of your bed. You can also decorate the bed posts by hanging plastic fruits and flowers.

You only need imagination and a bit of resourcefulness to come up with bunk beds that are both practical and interesting for kids.
