Upright vacuum cleaners are one of the most popular models of vacuum cleaner on the market today, along with canister vacuums.
Upright devices have a cleaning head for which a bag and a handle are normally attached onto it. They normally have a rotating brushroll or even a beater bar that picks up the dirt through vibration and sweeping.
You will find that there are two types of upright vacuums.
Direct Fan Upright Vacuums
Direct-Fan vacuums are the older of the two versions and have a fan that is employed close to the opening that the dirt passes through before it is blown into the bag.
The motor of these vacuums have a separate cooling fan to cool it down.
These types of cleaners have an efficient airflow because they have large-bladed fans and short air paths, but you will find that they are less powerful because the airflow is lost when passing through its long hose.
These types of vacuums are much better at cleaning carpeted areas than their Fan-bypass counterparts
Fan-bypass Upright Vacuums
You will find that fan-bypass upright vacuums have their motor applied after the bag.
Their power is boosted by several moving and stationary turbines and to cool the motor of a fan-bypass vacuum, as the airstream passes by it.
You will find that fan-bypass vacuums have suction that is not reduced by the length of its hose, so are more powerful than their counterparts. However you will also find that although they are more powerful, they are less efficient because they require twice as much power than direct-fan vacuums to do the same thing as their counterparts.
