Toronto, Canada - GAO Embedded (www.GAOEmbedded.com) has released its universal programmer

featuring a high programming speed, test vector capability, multi-array fuse map editor, device insertion and poor-pin-contact check. It is intended to handle several different devices such as programmable read-only memory (PROM), programmable logic device (PLD), flash microcontroller or serial and parallel memory. This universal programmer supports more than 22000 devices to meet the various needs for device programming and IC testing. Its price has been reduced to US$420 for a limited time only.

The compact universal programmer, model VP590, starts programming automatically upon detection of chip insertion under auto-run mode and is fully compatible with Windows XP/2000/NT/Vista operating systems. The programmer accepts standard file formats such as JEDEC, INTEL (Extended) HEX, HOLTEK, EMC (CDS), INTEL HEX16 and Motorola S record. It includes a 48-pin ZIF socket and manages 16 and 32-bit word split. The programmer supports most compilers in JEDEC format including ABEL, CUPL, PALASM, TANGO PLD, ORCAD PLD, PLD Designer and ISDATA. In addition, it easily connects with a laptop or PC through a USB port.
