Trenchless Technology, Sewer Reapair, Pipelining, and How It Saves Time and Money

Pipe relining is the process of repairing damaged sewer

, water, or steam pipes by creating a "pipe within a pipe", also known as C.I.P.P. (cured in place pipe). Another method is Epoxy relining. This is mainly used on smaller dimension gas or water pipes with pinhole leaks. Although effective, it does not offer the same structural strength that pipe relining does.

Both these are alternatives to digging up and replacing the pipe, which often costs more money, takes twice as long, and is very disruptive to nearby homes or businesses.

Many times, pipe relining can be performed through a building's clean-out access and often requires little digging. If digging is necessary, the pipe is located with a pipe finder and can be precisely dug at the necessary point causing minimal disturbances. Pipe relining may be used to repair root-damaged pipes, seal cracks and holes, fill in missing pipe and seal joint connections underground, in roof drain pipes, in storm lines and under concrete. The relined pipe is seamless and durable, and all materials used in the relining process are non-hazardous.

There are different kinds of liners for different kinds of jobs. From 2" house connections, to 48" storm drains. For house connection . Flexliner is the most popular, and cost effective liner made of PVC and normally used for straight shots with minimal bends. Flexliner is manufactured for 3"-6" pipes and can withstand 50 degrees celsius. Although it is our most cost efficient liner, Flexliner is still a great choice and a good quality product that has been installed and proven around the world.

There is one liner that is superior to the rest for residential lines. Thermoliner plus is the star of the show, offering temperature resistance up to 80 degrees Celsius, it can cure around 90 bends with little to no wrinkling, and can convert up to 2" larger in diameter allowing a smooth transition from one line to another with no gaps. Thermoliner plus is the best liner for 3" to 6" lines.

Years of use and required independent tests validate the long-term strength and performance of the lining products. Properly designed and installed, the expected useful life of a pipe rehabilitated with the correct process greatly exceeds 50 years. The new pipe allows for a stronger and more flexible line.
