Next I look at the actual reviews themselves, now bear in mind that every item will have some negative feedback but I believe it is twice as likely that someone with a complaint, justified or not, will take the time to log in and record it. I have a self imposed gauge of two to one, good review out-scores bad by two to one.

IQ routing technology which takes the info of all TomTom users to provide the best routes to take to any given place.
There are more features but these are the ones that most of will use on a regular basis.
TomTom XXL540TM Good:
TomTom technology- widely regarded as the best GPS mapping system
Large easily readable screen with voice direction which is great when the traffic is heavy and you don't want to be looking at the screen.
IQ Routes This is valuable to people that need to get somewhere in the least possible time, err, all of us?
TomTom XXL 540TM Bad:
Customer support is recorded as being unhelpful although tech support was very quick.
The dashmount is prone to coming unstuck
Reports of software updates not working correctly
TomTom XXL 540TM Ugly:
Reading through the customer reviews the poor customer support is mentioned time and time again so if you do have a problem and lets face it, it can happen the experience may be soured by this.
At the time of writing there were 133 reviews for the TomTom XXL 540TM producing an average score of 4 stars. With 58 five star reviews compared to 12 one star I would be happy to purchase this product.
