Building upon the high technology design and resounding success of the original AP irons, Titleist introduces the new high performance AP1 and AP2 irons for avid golfers. Theyare multi-material, dual cavity irons that take the design mission of "Advanced Performance You Can Feel" to new heights. The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel.
The new Titleist AP1 irons offer the advantages of the highly regarded AP2 in a model that offers the mid handicapper a little more forgiveness. AP stands fro Advanced Performance and the new AP1 is a revamped version of the previous model which has been so popular over the past couple of years. Titleist have made three crucial changes that they think have really improved the performance of the AP1.
The first big change is the livelier feel which is the result of a slightly thinner clubface and a comoulded aluminium backplate which combines with a tungsten insert in the sole of the club and Titleist's new Tuned Feel System to provide the feel you would expect from the Advanced Performance series.
Titleist says its engineers studied the sound and vibrations created at impact, and the result is the new "Tuned Feel System." The TFS is a medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate intended to improve the feel and sound of the irons.
