Look at the condition of the hoses that carry hydraulic fluid around the logsplitter. Sometimes, the exterior of the hose can look a little bit worse for wear but the inside is in perfect condition.
Look into the hydraulic reservoir and scrutinize the fluid inside. It should be relatively clean. If it is black in colour or contains water, the logsplitter is experiencing an issue.
