The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Surgery
If you've been considering getting plastic surgery such as a face lift
, breast augmentation, nose job, liposuction, or any one of a number of other procedures, you may be wrestling with whether or not it is the right decision or not for you personally. We've all seen before and after pictures of celebrities who have gone under the knife so many times that they don't even look real anymore: but most of us are interested in less drastic means to look and feel better. Is it worth it? Here are some pros and cons.
Pros
--Plastic surgery is a way for people whose physical flaws may limit their personal, business, and social success. After all, plastic surgery is a serious tool that can absolutely change lives. Consider the salesman who has an oversized nose. He was not as successful as he could have been because people had a hard time taking him seriously or were spending more time looking at his nose than listening to his presentation. Teens can be brutal to one another: a nose job or breast reduction could very well give a girl the confidence she needs to feel more comfortable in her own skin.
--Procedures are much improved over what they used to be and getting better every day. Today's plastic surgery procedures are less intrusive and more likely to be successful in the long term thanks to ever-evolving science and technology. The new methods for performing liposuction, for example, are performed under local anesthesia, yield better results, are safer, and require considerably less recuperation time.
--Feel better about yourself. Even if your flaw is not noticed by others, if it bothers you that's really all that matters. It is miraculous that women and men both can choose to change their appearance simply because they want to and will enjoy greater self-esteem as a result.
Cons
--Plastic surgery is, well, surgery: and that means there is always risk involved. However, if you choose to undergo your procedure in a clinical setting your risks are greatly decreased.
--Procedures are not always successful: after your nose job, you may not think you look like "you" anymore. If you opt for saline or silicone implants, there is a slight chance that they may not look natural or that leakage could occur.
--It can be expensive. Although actual price ranges vary greatly from state to state, plastic surgery can be pricey: you have to decide whether or not fixing your flaws is worth the expense. Most patients say that it is definitely worth it!
If you decide to go ahead with plastic surgery, make sure to take the time to do some research about the new types of procedures that are on the market today and choose your doctor carefully.
