The Global Bpo Race

Its official now

Its official now. The race for BPO supremacy is not between rival business firms anymore. Governments of countries are now involved to grab their share of the lucrative pie that is the call center market. There are various ways in which the administrative powers of several countries like China are helping fledgling answering service firms to pull up their socks and make an attempt to earn more revenue for the country. Another emerging trend in the global business outsourcing race is the emergence of tie-ups and collaborations between business firms to project a united front. The aim is to arm themselves sufficiently with resources so that they stay alive in this dog-eat-dog world.

Lets take a look at what governments are doing to fuel the global BPO race. The first point is that they are offering infrastructure facilities to set up call centers. Governments of countries understand what the influx of cash could do to the economy of the country. They have seen that efforts to revive other cash-rich sectors like insurance fall flat on their faces. In an economy where people hardly have enough to live comfortably, saving and investment sounds like a poor joke. The country needs employment and the answering service industry can do just that: provide a meaningful employment to the educated youth. The primary reason governments would love to help set up a business outsourcing firm is that it takes some of the unemployment burden off their shoulders.

Next up, governments love the foreign currency. Less-developed countries would be very interested in conducting business with countries with a higher exchange rate. That is exactly what the BPO sector offers. The business that comes in from countries like the US is always paid for in dollars. The foreign exchange injects more cash into sagging economies. In anticipation of that, governments are willing to set up the basic amenities needed for an answering service hub. They make sure that roads and transport are up to the mark, they provide establishment spots at prime locations and they also pass labor laws to help employees work in better conditions. Many of these governments make active efforts to woe investors. Such efforts include tax cuts and subsidies on the technological back-up that these firms need.

Tie-ups and collaborations are also the order of the day. It could be that many BPO services are not available with one firm and vice versa. That is the time to tie-up for the sake of the project. Call center firms realize the importance of each project that lands on their lap. They understand that to stay ahead in the competition, they have to be the best in every department. If that demands an exchange of ideas or an assimilation of resources between two answering service firms, then so be it. The drive to be on the top of the heap fuels the desire to get into partnerships based on convenience. And if that collaboration means profit for both parties, nothing can be better for these business outsourcing firms.
