Team National Review - Is Team National A Smart Investment

?

A Decade of Growth

Team National was founded in 1997 by Dick Loehr, a direct salesman and previous business owner. Since 1992, Loehr had been working in his own direct sales company, and he decided to start Team National as a supplement to that company.

In 1999, the companies finally merged, creating a complete package for network marketers. Loehr's daughter, Angela, joined the team, and within 5 years, sales had risen from $8 million dollars to $70 million dollars. The growth has continued, and now the company has over 290,000 representatives.

The company provides discounts from retailers on a variety of products and services, in about 20 different industries. The offerings are as varied as auto pricing, home furnishings, and merchant credit card pricing.

How Team National Works

Unlike many MLM programs where reps serve as retailers, reps never touch any of their products.

Reps don't pay anything to the distributor (to Team National or to the individual sellers of the discounted products and services). Instead they simply refer the customer status to others. The sole function of the reps is to market memberships to other potential customers.

But the tricky thing, is that it costs anywhere from $400-$2,000 to become a customer. And reps have to be customers first. So your initial investment will be higher than in many other network marketing companies.

What Critics Say

Critics of Team National say that there are downsides of joining the company. First, it's a large initial investment, even if you do capitalize on some of the savings offered. Second, it's possible that the benefits of growing your downline are actually more beneficial than the discount packages purchased. They are basically saying that the product isn't a quality offering, but people purchase so that they can become representatives and grow their downline.

Are the critics right? It's also true that many people have benefited greatly from their business investment. Great success is possible. And it's not a scam; the company has been around for over a decade with few legal issues.

The Real Issue with Team National

But there is one other issue with the company. They generally encourage reps to sell packages to people they know, in their neighborhoods and towns. Home parties can be a big part of the sales techniques.

But this type of marketing is severely outdated, and many people who try this approach ultimately fail. It's important, when considering an opportunity like Team National, to look at the bigger picture and take time to learn up-to-date techniques for network marketing.

There are many techniques based around internet marketing, SEO, development of web presence, use of social media, and other tools that can be used to grow your downline. So before taking on a business opportunity with a company like Team National, take time to learn the basics and set yourself up for success.
